Tomos worked as a journalist and political advisor in the Welsh Senedd before becoming a Special Advisor with the UK Government.

During this period he advised Cabinet Ministers, Ambassadors, international business leaders, and on occasions the Prime Minister. He continues to work with the Shadow Cabinet and lectures on the role of Special Advisors to a select range of clients.
